Spiritual & cultural journeys · Central Bhutan
Sumtrhang Inner Journey guides pilgrims, seekers and curious travellers through the sacred valleys of Bumthang and Trongsa — where every temple holds a story, and every pass is crowned with prayer.
Sumtrhang · སུམ་ཕྲང་
Central Bhutan is where the kingdom’s spiritual story began. Guru Rinpoche meditated in its caves, the treasure-revealer Pema Lingpa drew scriptures from its lakes, and its dzongs still ring with the chants of monks at dawn.
We craft unhurried itineraries that leave space for prayer, conversation and stillness — whether you come to receive blessings at a tshechu, sit in meditation at a hermitage, or simply share butter tea in a farmhouse kitchen.

Where we travel
Bumthang
Four sacred valleys and the oldest temples in the kingdom — Jambay, Kurjey and the Burning Lake.
Trongsa
Ancestral seat of the Wangchuck kings, its great dzong guarding the road between east and west.
Ura & Tang
Cobbled villages, buckwheat fields and the quiet life of high-valley farming families.
Zhemgang
Forested hills of the Kheng people, rich in bamboo crafts and untouched traditions.
Our approach
Our guides grew up in central Bhutan and many studied in monasteries. They open doors to lamas, temple caretakers and rituals rarely seen by visitors.
Private journeys or groups of no more than eight, so every day can bend to your pace, your questions and your intentions.
Family-run farmhouses and locally owned lodges, in the spirit of Gross National Happiness and Bhutan’s high-value, low-impact tourism.
“Our guide knew every lama in Bumthang by name. Sitting in Kurjey as the monks began their evening chant was the most peaceful moment of my life.”
